In Japan, there’s a word, もったいない (mottainai) which roughly translates to regretful waste. Not being wasteful is part of the culture.


In today’s episode we talk about ways we’re bringing in zero-waste products but first using the items we have, so not to be mottainai. We laugh at how some of these zero-waste products are really a throwback to the olden days before the mass use of plastic goods.


With her move to her new home, Yakko will be taking on a year of tidying, combining the Konmari method of tidying and using up the things she has to consume less.
