A common challenge for those of us in bicultural situations is finding the balance of adapting to the culture we’re in and staying true to who we are. It’s surprisingly easy to lose yourself in a new culture when at first you are enchanted and delighted by the different way of life. It takes a strong sense of self, keen observations of your surroundings and the ability to find ways to be you within the culture to find that balance. This situation could apply to when you visit your grandmother’s bingo club or travel halfway around the world.
