Have you ever been tripped up by Wasei-eigo? Wasei-eigo are pseudo-English words and phrases created by Japanese speakers that are based on English words but are not actually English.

それだけではありません。ビーサンやジーパンのように日本には英語を元にして作った独自の略語もあります。これらも一見英語かと思いますが、残念ながら英語としては通じません、笑。どうりで惑わされるわけです！
But, that’s not all. There are many made-up words such as bi-san and ji-pan that are created from English words but don’t exist in the English language. It’s no wonder Wasei-eigo is responsible for lots of communication confusion!
